Coding and Finnish Language
LearnIT - Coding and Finnish Language is an eight-month training program for the unemployed or people under threat of becoming unemployed, who are looking for a chance to learn new programming skills, polish their existing ones and improve their Finnish.
The goal of this program is to enable participants to apply to programming positions with titles, such as front-end developer or back-end developer, or other roles in the IT sector.
The application period for the next Coding and Finnish Language course will be announced later.
Content and Methods
LearnIT - Coding and Finnish Language training program offers you the opportunity to update your skillset and to learn and practice new technologies with modern programming languages and gain hands-on experience with new tools and methods. The program gives you an opportunity to learn Finnish language in an authentic work environment.
The training is full-time and implemented as blended learning. Training includes on-site and online studies and meetings as well as studying independently.
Training is made of three key elements: software development, Finnish language and on-the-job-training in a real company. On top of these, all participants get tips and support for career management and job seeking. Training is personalized for each participant based on their respective skills, needs and targets.
Working life-oriented Finnish language training
The Finnish language training includes oral and written communication in Finnish, working life and culture in Finland and everyday life at the workplace: meetings, teamwork and customer service.
On-the-job training
On-the-job training includes three months of practical training in a real company where you will put your knowledge into practice, solve real-world problems and improve your skills in cooperation with employees at the workplace and your tutor. BearIT will help you find the IT internship but we also encourage you to proactively look for a possible internship yourself.

Qualifications
This training is targeted to those whose native language is not Finnish and who need improvement in their Finnish language skills. Participants should know Finnish at an advanced beginner proficiency level, about A2.2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as we do not start from the very basics of the language. You should be fluent in spoken and written English in order to succeed in this course.
We expect applicants to have some suitable educational, work-related or self-taught ICT background. A suitable educational background can be a degree or a course which is either technical in nature or related to software development. We value it if you have previous work experience from the ICT-sector or have gained significant experience in the form of a hobby.
The training is primarily targeted for job seeker customers in the Pirkanmaa region.
Information on Labour Market Training
Labour market training is primarily intended for adults who are unemployed or at risk of losing their jobs and who have completed their compulsory education.
During participation in labour market training, you receive the unemployment benefit to which you would be entitled as an unemployed jobseeker (labour market subsidy, basic unemployment allowance or earnings-related unemployment allowance). In addition you may be granted a supplementary amount and compensation for expenses.
